BOARD of directors
Luke is a Business Strategist and expert in Organizational Development. He has his Master of Occupational Therapy from West Virginia University and is currently enrolled at the George Washington University to obtain his Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership. A former WVU Varsity and competitive all-star cheerleader, Luke has been a passionate cheerleader for over 15 years.
Carrie is an attorney at a law firm in the DC Metro area, where her practice focuses on civil litigation. Carrie is a former college cheerleader at the University of Pennsylvania, and she is thrilled to be able to help build Cheer DC and to continue cheering.
Member At Large - Events
Brandi is an Advanced Academics teacher with masters degrees in Child Development/Family Studies, Elementary Education, and Reading Curriculum Development from West Virginia University. She was a cheerleader at WVU. Brandi is a teacher in the DC Metro area and excited to continue cheerleading through Cheer DC.
Member At Large - Fundraising
Manuel is a former cheerleader and coach, now a teacher in Northern Virginia. Manuel is a gifted tumbler and all-around cheerleader with an impassioned spirit. He is excited to make the transition from a devoted teammate to a committed leader and to help take Cheer DC to new heights in the upcoming season.
Member At Large - Communications
Hayley is a PhD candidate in Molecular Oncology with a master's degree in Biochemistry and Bioinformatics from the George Washington University. Hayley formerly cheered at the University of Pennsylvania, and is happy to use her communication skills to promote the mission of Cheer DC.
Eric graduated from UC Santa Barbara, where he cheered and earned a degree in chemical engineering. He recently moved to the DC area for a job as a Patent Examiner and is excited to continue cheering with Cheer DC!
Ashley is a high school special education teacher with a master’s degree in special education as well as elementary education with focuses in consciousness/transformation and mild disabilities from George Mason University. She has cheered her whole life and coaches at her high school. Ashley is excited to continue cheerleading and spreading positivity through Cheer DC!
Nam is an award-winning stylist who keeps Cheer DC looking good both through his hair-styling skills and eye for coaching detail. He has cheered and coached at West Springfield High for many years, and has previously coached and choreographed for Cheer DC's pom team.
Andy cheered at WVU, and then went to Kaplan Career Institute for his degree as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. He now serves as a Director of Rehabilitation. His creativity and compassion are clearly reflected in his choreography and in his performance.
Originally from Media, PA, Maddi cheered at Philadelphia University where she earned her degree in Interior Design. A practicing healthcare interior designer, Maddi is excited to bring her natural creativity together with her life-long passion for cheerleading in her first role as a cheer coach.
Caroline is a PhD candidate in Education and the Academic Specialist for the Mason LIFE program at George Mason University. She cheered in Virginia in high school, and despite her love for the University of Alabama, has returned to the area to finish her graduate work and cheer once more. Her high energy, quick wit, and no-nonsense attitude serve her well as Cheer DC's second captain and returning co-captain for the upcoming season.
Robert, one of the founders of the early team in the late 1990s, has brought so much life and history to the resurgence of Cheer DC! He has years of cheer, mascot, PCA, and LGBTQ+ advocacy experience. In his own words, rejoining Cheer DC was like “life [becoming] full circle and full of joy and happiness witnessing a dream come true!” With a little bit of sass and a lot of heart, Robert is a great addition to the creative leadership team.
Christopher joining Cheer DC has been a true joy for all involved. Although he boasts an impressive resume of cheer experience and talent, his dedication and excitement from the sidelines is just as critical to team operations. Christopher will be working in a more official capacity this season, along with Board and Coaching staff, to ensure improved efficiency of logistics for all events in performances. We’re excited to have him!
